Last week I visited the 'What Women Want' exhibition at the Women's Library in London and I was saddened to read so many comments from women visiting the exhibition who, when asked: 'What makes a woman beautiful?' wrote responses such as 'being thin, looking beautiful' and one female who even drew a picture of herself labelled as 'ugly.' It is heart breaking that women are judged on their beauty and that beauty itself continues to define women, fuelled by the media and the need to 'conform.'
