"advertising"?? All this advert is gonna do is stop people from getting a seat while they wait for the bus. it's just ridiculous and degrading.

Horrible, but not surprising, from a company whose own employess call it 'Finance First'. And shame on the advertising agency that thought of it. Shame shame shame.

I am really not suprised froma company like "Fittness First".
What a ridiculously offensive ploy. I am stunned that the local council allowed it to begin with!

Where is the shame in people knowing your weight?
You weigh what you weigh, that's it. People could just guess your weight visually if they wanted to.

Sometimes shaming works to make people take stock of the physical condition. It should be about being fit not just being slim.

I'm not surprized especially now-a-days. People are a me me me generation. Shame is just part of the equation.

I think it is beyond barbaric. I made a conscious choice to take public transportation out of environmental concerns. While I am proud of every ounce of my 220lbs, a person's weight is their private business. They should not have to stand after a hard day at work because advertisers aren't creative enough to come up with a decent campaign and try to use humiliation as a short cut.

The billboard does not exactly say anything humiliating. It does not even state that that is the weight of the person sitting on the bench. And then what? Does it judge the person? Not at all! Does it say anything offensive about you as a person? Not at all. It is just stating a fact. Unless you find your own weight offensive. But then it is about time to do something about it.

Suzanne: You can't deny that the tactic the advertising is using is shame though. There are less invasive tactics of bringing fitness to attention.

On the other hand though, no one has to sit there.

@Suzanne - Some people are medically unable to lose weight or due to a medical condition are retaining fat, water, whatever that would increase a person's weight. So now when you have a person who is medically unable to slim down they're forced to be spoon-fed something that they're, most likely, well aware of just for humiliation's sake.

@petitepash - Yes, our obesity problem has nothing to do with false advertisement, poor food regulation, dietary misinformation, and a over flooding standard that size "0" is healthy; it's because we don't have enough benches to tell us how big everyone is! Never knew the answer to our problems was such a simple resolution as a scale... I'll be damned!

OMG I've never seen such an outrageous ad. It's so incredibly that people have ideas like that. Advertisments like that or with so extremly skinny girls should really be banned. Everybody has to think about his weight when he's sitting on this seat. Arn't there more important and interessting topics for ads than your weight. Unbelievable...!
