A seriously distorted image of Fillippa used to advertise Ralph Lauren in Tokyo

The Times reported on 15th October 2009 that a Ralph Lauren model, Filippa Hamilton, is claiming that she has been dropped by the brand after six years working with them because she was supposedly too heavy and couldn't fit into the company's sample sizes.  A size 8 too heavy?

this is photoshopped out of all recognition - even models are no longer perfect enough!

And do designers (particularly male ones) have mirrors in their homes - Ralph Lauren is no oil painting.

I'm sorry but a size 8 IS too heavy. If you're above a size 4 you shouldn't be a model and that's pushing it. I'm in between a size 2 and 4 and I don't even think I'm in shape enough. Just work out instead of sitting on your computer complaining. You could've run half a mile by the time you read all of this. Just work out and stop complaining!

A size 8 isn't too big. It's a normal size to be, it's a healthy size to be. If you're a size 2 and thinking you're too heavy, you have problems and you need help. this is what's wrong with society, thinking stick thin is sexy. It's not. You should be happy with your REAL size, if it happens to be a size 2 or a size 10. Real women are beautiful.
